Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Line two baking trays with aluminium foil and keep aside.
In a bowl, sieve maida, baking powder and baking soda together.
In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar till well combined, approx 5-6 minutes.
Now add the vanilla essence and mix.
Add the maida mixture, 2 tbsp sesame seeds and mix gently until the mixture comes together.
Now add ¼ cup milk gradually and knead until a soft dough is formed.
Place the rest of the 1 cup sesame seeds in a small bowl to oat the cookies. Keep aside.
Divide the dough into 25 equal parts and shape them into a ball and flatten it.
Press the flattened cookies into the bowl of sesame seeds (one by one), so as to coat it completely with sesame seeds.
Place the cookies on the baking tray about an inch apart and coat them with milk.
While baking the first pan, keep the second pan of cookies in the refrigerator.
Bake the cookies at 180°C for 16-18 minutes, or till golden brown.
Remove the pan from the oven and let the cookies cool down completely. Now keep the 2nd tray for baking.
Once cooled they will be crunchy. Store immediately in an airtight container and enjoy the cookies :)
