Thecha is a Maharashtrian accompaniment made using green chilli peppers and garlic along with a few other spices. It is basically a coarsely pounded green chilli chutney.
Made with just 4-5 ingredients, goes best with Chawal Bhakri, Whole Wheat Bhakri, and Jowar Bhakri. It tastes yummy with Dal-Chawal, Parathas as well. It is a side condiment that perks up any meal, especially if the dishes are bland.
Ingredients (4 servings)
- 15 Green Chillies (coarsely crushed or chopped)
- 10 cloves Garlic (coarsely crushed or chopped)
- 1 tsp Oil
- ½ tsp Mustard seeds
- ½ tsp Asafoetida
- Salt to taste
Method
- In a pan heat the oil over medium heat. Add the mustard seeds and once they splutter add the asafoetida.
- Now add garlic, and green chillies, and saute for 3-4 minutes
- Add salt, and mix evenly. Turn off the gas flame.
- Green Chilli Thecha is ready.
- Serve this thecha along with Jowar Bhakri, Wheat Bhakri, Rice Bhakri, Daal Chawal, or Paratha.
NOTE:
It will last in the fridge for 5-6 days when stored in an airtight container.
