Tricoloured Bread cubes

Today i made Tricoloured bread cubes for the Indian Republic Day. I have used three veggies in each layer to make the sandwich to match the republic theme and also make it healthy. For saffron layer I used sauce, for the white layer potatoes and the green layer chutney. You can use the veggies of your choice that suits the colour theme and make this sandwich.

They taste awesome 🙂

Trocoloured Bread Cubes

Ingredients

  • Bread Slices – 4
  • Tomato Sauce – 1 tbsp
  • Coriander Chutney – 1 tbsp
  • Boiled Potato – 1(big, mashed)
  • Gram Flour (Besan) – 3 tbsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Green Chillies – ½ tsp (finely chopped)
  • Coriander Leaves – ½ tsp
  • Garam Masala – ¼ tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder – ¼ tsp + ¼ tsp
  • Amchur Powder – ¼ tsp
  • Ajwain – a pinch
  • Hing – a pinch
  • Oil – for deep frying

Method

  1. Mix potato, green chillies, coriander leaves, red chili powder, amchur powder and salt nicely and keep aside.
  2. Take besan in a bowl, add ajwain, hing, garam masala, red chilli powder and salt. Add water and mix well so that no lumps are formed. It should not be very thick nor thin.
  3. Take a slice of bread, apply coriander chutney, put 2nd slice over it. Apply potato mixture on top of 2nd slice. Place 3rd slice on it. Now apply a layer of tomato sauce on top of 3rd slice. Place 4th slice on it. Press a little.
  4. Now take this entire sandwich and dip in the besan batter, cover the entire sandwich evenly with the batter.
  5. Deep fry in hot oil till crisp and golden in colour.
  6. Drain on tissue paper and cut it into four pieces.
  7. Serve hot with coriander chutney and tomato sauce.
