Suji halwa is an Indian delicious dessert and very easy to prepare. Kids love this dessert and is very healthy and easy to digest. This can be prepared any time for sweet tooth especially on festivals.

Ingredients (4-5 servings)

  • Suji (semolina) – 1 cup
  • Ghee – ½ cup
  • Sugar – 1 cup
  • Hot Water – 2 cups
  • Hot Milk – 2 cups
  • Coconut powder – 2 tbsp+ to garnish
  • Green cardamom powder – ¼ tsp
  • Almonds – 8-10 (shredded)
  • Cashewnuts – 8-10 (chopped)
  • Raisins – 15-20

Method

  1. In a nonstick pan, melt the ghee add the suji and stir fry over medium heat for 10-12 minutes or when golden in colour and nice aroma starts coming.
  2. Add milk, water, sugar, coconut powder and cardamom powder and bring to a boil, then simmer till the liquid is absorbed around 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add half almonds, cashews and raisins and mix well.
  4. Halwa is ready.
  5. Serve hot, garnished with rest of the almonds, cashews, raisins and coconut powder.

NOTE:- When making for Prasada we use TULSI leaves as well.
