Panchamrit

Panchamrit is offered to gods in various religious occasions in Hindu culture. Panch means five in sanskrit and Amrit means nectar. It is a mixture of five foods mainly honey, sugar, milk, yogurt, and ghee.

Ingredients

  • Fresh Curd – 2½ cups (450 gms)
  • Raw Milk – ½ cup (100 gms)
  • Sugar – ¼ cup (50 gms)
  • Ghee – 2 tsp
  • Honey – 1tbsp
  • Lotus Seeds (Makhana) – 20-25 (cut into 4 pieces)
  • Basil Leaves – 10-12
  • Water – ½ cup

Method

  1. Take curd in a bowl and whisk it well.
  2. Add milk, sugar, ghee, honey ,water and mix well.
  3. Add lotus seeds, basil leaves and mix well.
  4. Panchamrit is ready.

Significance of the ingredients of Panchamrit

  • Milk is for the blessing of purity and devotion.
  • Curd is for prosperity and progeny.
  • Honey is for sweet speech.
  • Ghee is for victory.
  • Sugar is for happiness.
  • Water is for purity.

NOTE:- You can use any dry fruits you like.
