Mawa Peda

Mawa peda is a quick and easy sweet made of khoya flavoured with cardamom. This is very famous sweet/dessert in India.

Ingredients (15-16 pieces)

  • Mawa/Khoya – 2 cup
  • Powdered Sugar – ½ cup
  • Cardamom Powder – ½ tsp+¼ tsp
  • Almonds – 5-7 (powdered)

Method

  1. Combine khoya and sugar in a heavy bottomed or non stick pan and cook on a slow flame while stirring continuously.
  2. When the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture leaves the sides of the pan (approx 8-10 minutes), remove from the fire.
  3. Add ½ tsp cardamom powder and almonds and mix well.
  4. Allow to cool completely. Divide the mixture into 15-16 equal portions and shape into even sized rounds and press a little to give shape of peda.
  5. Garnish with ¼ tsp cardamom powder.
