Gajar ka Halwa is a famous dessert in India. Packed with fresh carrots, this recipe provides plenty of vitamin A which helps to maintain a healthy vision and glowing skin.
Ingredients (4 servings)
- Carrots – ½ kg
- Milk – ½ litre
- Cream – 2 tbsp
- Sugar – ¼ cup or as required
- Pure Ghee – 2 tbsp
- Green Cardamom Powder – ¼ tsp
- Nutmeg Powder – ¼ tsp
- Cashew nuts – 1 tbsp (chopped)
- Almonds – 1 tbsp (chopped)
- Raisins – 15-20
Method
- Peel and grate the carrots.
- In a kadai, add carrots and milk, and let it cook on high flame till it starts boiling. Now let it cook on simmer till the liquid evaporates, stirring occasionally.
- Add cream, sugar and cook on a medium flame till the sugar is dissolved and again till all the liquid evaporates.
- Add ghee, cardamom powder, nutmeg powder, cashew nuts, almonds and raisins and cook till it turns into deep reddish color.
- Garnish with almonds and serve hot.
