Gajar ka Halwa

Gajar ka Halwa is a famous dessert in India. Packed with fresh carrots, this recipe provides plenty of vitamin A which helps to maintain a healthy vision and glowing skin.

Ingredients (4 servings)

  • Carrots – ½ kg
  • Milk – ½ litre
  • Cream – 2 tbsp
  • Sugar – ¼ cup or as required
  • Pure Ghee – 2 tbsp
  • Green Cardamom Powder – ¼ tsp
  • Nutmeg Powder – ¼ tsp
  • Cashew nuts – 1 tbsp (chopped)
  • Almonds – 1 tbsp (chopped)
  • Raisins – 15-20

Method

  1. Peel and grate the carrots.
  2. In a kadai, add carrots and milk, and let it cook on high flame till it starts boiling. Now let it cook on simmer till the liquid evaporates, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add cream, sugar and cook on a medium flame till the sugar is dissolved and again till all the liquid evaporates.
  4. Add ghee, cardamom powder, nutmeg powder, cashew nuts, almonds and raisins and cook till it turns into deep reddish color.
  5. Garnish with almonds and serve hot.
