Caramel Cake

Caramel cake is very soft and buttery. This cake is very easy to make and is loved by people of all ages.

Ingredients

  • Malai – ½ cup
  • Powdered Sugar – ½ cup
  • Milk – ½ cup
  • Maida – 1 cup
  • Baking powder – ½ tsp
  • Baking Soda – ¼ tsp
  • Milk powder – ½ cup
  • Vanilla essence – few drops
  • Nuts – ½ cup (dusted with maida)
  • For Caramel
  • Sugar – 4 tsp
  • Milk – ½ cup
  • Butter – 1 tsp

Method

  1. Grease a baking dish.
  2. Preheat the oven at 160°C.
  3. Firstly caramelize sugar in a pan, add butter and mix it well. Add milk and cook till it thickens. Caramel is ready, keep aside to cool down.
  4. Sift maida, baking powder and baking soda.
  5. In a bowl beat malai and sugar till light and fluffy. Add milk powder to malai mixture, mix it.
  6. Fold maida and milk to the malai mixture gently.
  7. Add cooled caramel mixture and mix well. Add half of the nuts on the batter and mix.
  8. Now pour the batter in the baking dish, spread rest on them evenly on the batter in the baking dish.
  9. Bake it for 35-40 minutes or till done.
  10. Test with a toothpick, if toothpick comes out clean that means cake is ready.

    Hi nidhiji,got your link from chef at large?In this cake the caramelised texture of sugar won’t effect the sponge fluffiness of the cake??also in your eggless sponge cake can there be any substitute of condensed milk as I don’t have.what are your measurements for one cup I mean how many grams??waiting for your reply??

      HI Reet Kalwani ji,
      caramel will not effect the fluffiness of the cake.
      1 cup = 100 gms Maida
