I, Dietitian Nidhi Agrawal was born in Uttar Pradesh, India in a vegetarian family. My mother is an excellent cook. She pays attention to every detail of cooking like fresh ingredients, home grinded spices and much more. I was not very fond of cooking when I was young but helped my mother in the kitchen during festivals only and gradually I learnt many dishes especially the different sweets that she used to make for each festival.
My mother also taught me to cook the daily daal, roti, etc. with a few variations of hers. She taught me many dishes but she never wanted her daughter to do it all the time as she knew that after marriage this would be the only thing I would have to do. So I never took cooking as a burden. It was rather a lot of fun and the best part was that she took cooking tests whenever she was busy with something else. This way her cooking was done as I didn’t cook all that bad and the appreciation I used to get motivated me to keep learning new dishes and my mother also felt proud to have taught me so much as I was a fast and a good learner. Even today I religiously follow all the steps and tips she gave me then.
After I got married in the mid-90’s, I started cooking on a daily basis and tried new regional dishes also. My husband has been complimenting my dishes and my vigour to keep experimenting and trying out new dishes. Whenever we invite guests for lunch or dinner, I prepare everything from soups to dessert on my own.
After my twin children were born, I had to cut out my passion for cooking and baking. Now they are grown up so I again started with cooking, my passion. For everything I make (cooking or baking), my son and daughter helps me a lot. This is my key motivation to keep learning more and experimenting.
My family is playing a huge role in helping me improve my skills with each passing day. As my children have grown up, now my husband has turned a critic and so I always try to do everything perfectly and if there’s any problem there is always a scope of figuring it out and correcting it as I always get a reality check when my husband tastes any of my dishes (he has always had a great sense of flavors). Lately, it was my son who gave me the idea of starting up a website with all my recipes. And here I am to help and share.
I also did Diploma in Dietetics, so that i can make nutritious tasty food.
